Connection to Black Bolt and White Flare
The timing and product structure suggest this special set could be based on Japan’s Black Bolt and White Flare, scheduled to release on June 6, 2025. These Japanese sets will feature all 156 Unova Pokémon across two sets, following a format similar to the popular Pokémon 151 but focused on Generation V.
The English set’s inclusion of two Elite Trainer Boxes and two Booster Bundles hints at a possible split between two distinct themes or card pools, as seen with the Japanese releases.
Upcoming English Sets
Another English set is slated for May 30, 2025, just before the special July release. This set is expected to include cards from multiple Japanese decks and expansions:
- Steven’s Metagross ex
- Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex
- Heat Wave Arena (Cynthia’s Garchomp ex)
- The Glory of Team Rocket (Rocket’s Mewtwo ex)
