On February 27, 2025, The Pokémon Company commemorated Pokémon Day with a special Pokémon Presents video presentation, unveiling a series of exciting developments for fans worldwide. The event highlighted new games, expansions, and series updates, all set to enhance the Pokémon experience in the coming year.

Key Announcements:

  • Pokémon Champions: A new battle-centric game compatible with Pokémon HOME.
  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Upcoming game featuring real-time battles and Mega Evolutions.
  • Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG): Introduction of Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards.
  • Pokémon TCG Pocket: Release of the “Triumphant Light” booster pack and upcoming ranked matches.
  • Pokémon Concierge: New episodes arriving on Netflix in September 2025.

Pokémon Champions

Developed collaboratively by The Pokémon Works and GAME FREAK, Pokémon Champions is designed to broaden the accessibility of core Pokémon battles. Players can engage in battles reminiscent of the main series, testing their skills against Trainers globally. The game offers compatibility with Pokémon HOME, enabling the integration of Pokémon from previous titles into players’ teams. Pokémon Champions will be available on the Nintendo Switch family of systems and mobile devices.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Set for a late 2025 release, Pokémon Legends: Z-A transports players to Lumiose City, undergoing an urban redevelopment to harmonize human and Pokémon coexistence. Players will choose a partner Pokémon—Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile—and explore both wild zones and urban areas. The game introduces real-time battles, allowing Trainers and Pokémon to move simultaneously, with Mega Evolutions playing a crucial role in combat strategies.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Updates

The Pokémon TCG is set to launch the Mega Evolution series in 2025, marking a new era for the game. This series reintroduces Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards, such as Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex. These cards feature increased HP and attack damage but grant opponents three prize cards upon defeat.

Pokémon TCG Pocket – Triumphant Light

Celebrating over 100 million downloads since its global launch in late 2024, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced the “Triumphant Light” booster pack, available worldwide starting February 28, 2025. This pack introduces new cards, including Arceus ex. Additionally, ranked matches are set to debut in March 2025, enhancing the competitive experience for players.

Pokémon Concierge

The stop-motion animated series Pokémon Concierge is slated to return with new episodes exclusively on Netflix in September 2025. Fans can look forward to teasers and previews showcasing new Pokémon appearances in the series.
