What’s the deal with Megas?
Recently Pokémon revealed the early sunsetting of Scarlet and Violet era in the TCG, and revealed the upcoming Mega era being ushered in by Pokémon Legends Z-A. Seeing as new Mega Evolutions have been dormant since Gen VII (having been succeeded by Dynamax, and then Terastalization) it raises the question if we will be getting new Mega Evolved Pokémon from Gen 8 and 9 in Legends Z-A and the TCG. Seeing as there have only been 48 Mega Evolutions so far out of 1,025 total known Pokémon, it leaves the door wide open for new an creative Mega Evolutions to take hold of our favorite Pokémon, both from previous or more recent generations.
The recent leaks
Popular leakers on X and Reddit have been posting some consistent and compelling intel on which Pokemon will be getting Mega Evolved in this new era. Leaker account CentroLeaks on X (formerly Twitter) had this to say:

Why so few?
In all of Pokémon history there’s only been 48 Megas to date, so the addition of these 26 is substantial, however it’s odd to leave out so many of more recent generation Pokémon… specifically Galar having only 1 and Paldea being absent entirely. Does this mean Legends Z-A takes place prior to the events in Paldea, but after Galar? Or does The Pokemon Company just want to leave out Paldea for other reasons? All I’ll say is that it leaves room for growth in future installments and I love to see a system that scales.
