Unova’s 156 Pokémon are making a dramatic return this summer with Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare, a stylish new split expansion arriving July 18, 2025. Whether you’re team Zekrom or team Reshiram, prepare to hunt for new illustration rares, nostalgic foil patterns, and a heavy dose of Black & White-era flair.
In case you’ve been begging for a Unova comeback that isn’t locked behind some mobile app or overpriced merch, the Pokémon TCG heard you. The upcoming dual expansion set gives us Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt featuring Zekrom, and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare featuring Reshiram. Every Unova Pokémon will show up in a modern illustration rare or special illustration rare format, split across the two sets. This means collecting them all might actually require buying both expansions—a plot twist no one saw coming (except everyone).
And if you’re feeling nostalgic, this drop dips back into the Black & White Series playbook. We’re talking:
- Classic foil patterns
- Original Basic Energy card designs
- Cards with a new Black White rare monochrome style—literally styled in all-black or all-white.
Each set will come with:
- 6 new Pokémon ex (that’s six per set)
- 8 ultra rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
