The collection features 3D Paper Theater displays of iconic full-art cards from the game, including Mewtwo EX, Pikachu EX, and Charizard EX. These displays create a three-dimensional effect, showcasing the immersive illustrations from Pokémon TCG Pocket. Additionally, the lineup includes a sacoche bag that reveals the Pikachu EX card art when unzipped, a Pack Hourglass keychain, a smartphone shoulder strap featuring Pikachu EX, and three zip pouches adorned with Genetic Apex pack art and in-game coin designs. Where have I seen this before?
Our first thought, and maybe this was yours too, was that these types of layered effect cards have been seen all over social media for years now, namely by artists like 3Devious_art. These handmade bespoke 3D Pokémon cards have become very popular and perhaps even caught the eye of someone on TPC’s creative team. It wouldn’t be the first time a major corporation capitalized on fan art. I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but its a striking resemblance.
When and where are they available?
Key dates for the merchandise release:
- April 3rd: Items available on the Pokémon Center Japan website.
- April 5th: Merchandise hits physical Pokémon Center stores in Japan, excluding the currently closed Hiroshima location.
Pricing details are yet to be announced and will likely be available once the items go on sale online. Given the recent trend of Pokémon TCG products selling out quickly, it’s advisable to act fast if you’re interested in these collectibles. Currently, there’s no information on whether these items will be available in Pokémon Center stores outside of Japan.
