Logan Paul, the well-known YouTuber and entrepreneur, is considering selling his prized “Pikachu Illustrator” Pokémon card. He acquired this rare card in 2021 for approximately $5.3 million, a transaction recognized by Guinness World Records as the most expensive private sale of a Pokémon card. In a recent YouTube video, Paul mentioned he’s open to selling the card and invited interested buyers to reach out.
The “Pikachu Illustrator” card is among the rarest Pokémon collectibles, originally awarded to 39 winners of a Japanese magazine contest in the late 1990s. Paul’s card is believed to be in the best condition among the few known to exist, enhancing its value. He has showcased this card on various occasions, including wearing it during his WrestleMania debut.
This potential sale highlights the growing market for high-value collectible cards. Other notable transactions include a 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card selling for over $12 million and a “Magic: The Gathering” card fetching $3 million. Collecting such items blends aspects of conquest, investment, and fandom, with prized collectibles often changing hands over time.
