The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is set to expand with the upcoming Japanese release of Heat Wave Arena on March 14, 2025. This set introduces 63 new cards, featuring Trainer’s Pokémon from notable characters such as Cynthia, Ethan, Misty, and Arven. Notable inclusions are Cynthia’s Garchomp ex and Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex. These cards are anticipated to be part of the English expansion Destined Rivals, scheduled for release on May 30, 2025.
Destined Rivals will combine cards from Heat Wave Arena and another Japanese set, The Glory of Team Rocket, which is slated for release on April 18, 2025. This combination brings together a diverse array of Trainer’s Pokémon and Team Rocket-themed cards, including Rocket’s Mewtwo ex. The booster pack artwork for Destined Rivals features characters like Giovanni and Team Rocket Executives, confirming the inclusion of Team Rocket elements in the set.
In addition to the main set releases, two decks titled “Starter Set ex Steven’s Beldum & Metagross ex” and “Starter Set ex Marnie’s Morpeko & Grimmsnarl ex” are scheduled for release on February 21, 2025, in Japan. Cards from these decks are also expected to be part of the Destined Rivals expansion. With the combination of these sets and decks, Destined Rivals promises a rich and varied selection of cards for collectors and players alike.
